Nielsens: Spellers, Miss USA and 'McCoys'

Tired trophies?MTV Movie Awards claimed 3.2 million viewers Sunday, down from 4.5 million last year for its lowest turnout since 2008. (The second-season opener of Teen Wolf, which followed, drew 2.1 million, matching last summer's opener.) NBC's Miss USA Pageant sashayed with 6.3 million, down from 7.4 million last year. But ESPN's Scripps National Spelling Bee Thursday edged up slightly to 1.1 million.

Late season finales. Fox's Touch (4.6 million viewers for two Thursday episodes); ABC's cable-bound Cougar Town (3.4 million Tuesday); CW's America's Next Top Model (1.4 million Wednesday) and The L.A. Complex (623,000 Tuesday); and NBC's canceled Best Friends Forever (1.8 million Friday).

Summer crop. CBS' Dogs in the City (6.7 million viewers Wednesday); ABC's Secret Millionaire (5.7 million) and Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition (4.5 million), both Sunday; CW's The Catalina (944,000 Tuesday) and Breaking Pointe (930,000 Thursday).

Giddyap. History made history with its three-part Hatfields & McCoys (averaging 13.8 million Monday through Wednesday), the top non-sports cable telecasts behind Disney's 2007 High School Musical.

Off the throne. HBO's Game of Thrones wrapped its second season Sunday with a series-high 4.2 million viewers, while Starz's Magic City finale drew 498,000 Friday. Cable openers: A&E's Longmire (a solid 4.1 million viewers Sunday) and The Glades (3.1 million); Lifetime's Drop Dead Diva (2.3 million Sunday); History's Mountain Men (3.9 million Thursday); Destination America's Fast Food Nation (213,000 Sunday).
