Robert Downey Jr., returns as the famed detective, who meets his intellectual match in criminal mastermind Prof. Moriarty (Jared Harris). The villain plots numerous assassinations, business acquisitions and terrorist attacks so that he can profit from the resulting war. He menaces Holmes and Watson (Jude Law), who also seem to be a step behind Moriarty's machinations.

USA TODAY's Claudia Puig says **: "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows is simultaneously brash and dull — hardly a combustible combination."
