Weekend TV: 'Falling Skies,' 'The Borgias'
Posted June 14, 2012
•It's a very busy cable day Sunday, particularly if you happen to collect finales.
•First up, though, there's the return of Falling Skies (TNT, 9 ET/PT), which brings Tom (Noah Wyle) back from his visit to the alien's ship.
But will his friends still trust him after he's been consorting with — and possibly probed by — the hated "skitters?" (Story, below)
•Otherwise, the big weekend news is a string of exits, led, perhaps, by the concluding episode of The Killing (AMC, 9 ET/PT). We've been promised a solution, so if you gave up after the first season, you may want to check back in just to satisfy any lingering whodunit curiosity.
•Showtime's lineup also ends Sunday, starting with Nurse Jackie (9 ET/PT), and heading into The Big C (9:30 ET/PT) and The Borgias (10 ET/PT) — which boasts a "startling" revelation from Cesare. And in that family, the startling bar is set pretty high.
•Still, a better late-evening bet might be the exit of Girls (HBO, 10 ET/PT).
The show seems to have made as many people cringe as laugh, but it's marked the emergence of a major new talent in Lena Dunham, who imbued it with a singular artistic vision.
