•We can sometimes allow current events and a society's worst representatives to obscure the achievements of a culture as a whole.

PBS hopes to correct that imbalance when it comes to Islamic cultural history with Islamic Art (tonight, 9 ET/PT, times may vary), a documentary that travels to Egypt, Israel, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, Iran, Spain, Mali and India to film examples of Islamic architecture, textiles, paintings and metalwork, and to examine the influence such work had on Western civilization.

•In memory of Andy Griffith, TV Land is devoting much of its weekend to a marathon run of The Andy Griffith Show.

The salute will run on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET/PT.

•If you're desperate for a new scripted episode fix, two networks are burning off two series Saturday night.

CBS has a double run of NYC: 22 (8 ET/PT), and NBC has another outing of The Firm (10 ET/PT).

•PBS' Masterpiece Mystery! Sunday kicks off a fifth season of Inspector Lewis (9 ET/PT). For their first case back, Lewis (Kevin Whately) and Hathaway (Laurence Fox) investigate the murder of an Oxford professor who was obsessed with Lewis Carroll's The Hunting of the Snark.

Celia Imrie, of Cranford and The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, guests.
