Duchess Kate's cousin strips for 'Playboy'
Posted July 13, 2012
You can't always control your relatives, especially the ones you didn't know you had, as Catherine Duchess of Cambridge has learned.
The former Kate Middleton's second cousin once removed, a 21-year-old banker who calls herself Katrina Darling, will be displayed across multiple pages of the September Playboy, says Hugh Hefner. The issue will be available at the end of August.
British media have been huffing about this for days, and Hefner confirmed it Thursday. "Katrina Darling, the second cousin of British royal Kate Middleton, is causing a sensation in the September issue of Playboy," Hef tweeted.
Neither Middleton nor Darling knew each other, or knew they were related, until last year when Middleton married Prince William and the ever-vigilant British tabloids discovered the connection between the future queen and the banker-by-day, stripper-by-night Darling.
Although she worked for Barclays bank managing wealth, Darling pursued a sideline as an exotic dancer. The Daily Mail reports she is known for stripping to God Save the Queen in Mayfair nightclubs. She's invited the royals to watch but she hasn't tried to contact them, the Mail says.
Marrying a royal inevitably means having your family roots and connections excavated by the British media. Even before the April 2011 wedding, Middleton's maternal uncle, Gary Goldsmith, was labeled as "disgraced" for his history of drug use and his house, Maison de Bang Bang, on the Spanish island of Ibiza. But he was included at all the wedding events anyway, and has stayed out of trouble since.
