The MTV VMA nominations have been announced, and Drake and Rihanna lead the pack with five nods each.

Last year's big winner Katy Perry isn't far behind, with four nominations. Kanye West and Justin Bieber are among the double nominees. Chris Brown will go up against Drake, Bieber, Usher and Frank Ocean in the best male video category.

Rihanna has two chances to win for video of the year; she's nominated both for her hit We Found Love and for her duet with Drake on Take Care. Others in the category include Katy Perry for Wide Awake; Gotye for Somebody That I Used To Know; and M.I.A. for Bad Girls.

Starting today, viewers can vote for general VMA categories, including video of the year, best new artist and more by visiting vma.mtv.com.

Winners will be announced at the show, airing live from Los Angeles on Sept. 6, and will feature performances from Alicia Keys and One Direction, up for best pop video for their hit What Makes You Beautiful.
