Style watcher Rancic becomes a style doer

Giuliana Rancic knows a thing or two about fashion. Not only does the E! News host have to look her best while interviewing A-listers on the red carpet, but as a member of E!'s Fashion Police, she offers her own critique of stars' sartorial selections. "I grew up surrounded by fashion," says Rancic, 36, whose father is a tailor. "When I was younger, I would put the craziest outfits together. I would go to school with these outfits on, and they were ahead of my time, and kids would make so much fun of me, but I didn't care. I loved it. The kids would be wearing what I wore the year before."

Now the entertainment journalist/reality TV star has jumped into the design pool, and she's excited about the launch of her own collection, G by Giuliana. The collection will be available beginning Sept. 21 on the HSN TV channel and HSN.com. It's just the latest labor of love for Rancic, who's got a baby on the way with husband and reality TV co-star Bill Rancic. The couple's show, Giuliana & Bill, airs on the Style Network.

She's thrilled to pieces

"I have to love every piece," Rancic says. "You can't say to me, even if this will sell well, if I'm not wearing it every day, I can't put my name behind it. I might be a little difficult at times."

Easy and versatile

"I just thought about my own personal style and what I like, and I wanted to make a collection that wasn't fussy," Rancic says. "It folds and unfolds nicely, no wrinkle. I just wanted great, basic staples that a lot of women could wear. Also, I work all day, and at night, I go to premieres and fabulous events, and I need to be able to go from day to night. That was big."

A vested interest in fur

"It just kind of pumps up every outfit," Rancic says of a faux fur vest, which she cites as another of her favorite pieces in the collection. "It's not itchy at all — it's very, very soft. That is an awesome vest."
