Video: Pitching the 'ALF' movie
Posted January 23, 2013
In case you haven't heard, an ALF movie is in the works.
The '80s sitcom ran for four seasons, and though I don't think it holds up very well, some diehard fans are psyched to see the cat-eating alien puppet back on the scene.
One such person is comedian Chris Gethard, who claims to be a huge ALF fanatic - and not in an ironic way.
"If you've ever felt like an outcast, if you've ever felt like you don't fit in, you should watch ALF a little more seriously, man," he says. "That show gets it."
Gethard is determined to appear in the upcoming ALF flick and says he'll do whatever it takes to be a part of it. He has been chronicling his "Mission to Melmac" through videos posted on IFC.com and on Twitter with the hashtag #alfgethard.
Here's the basic idea:
And here's the latest video, in which Gethard and comedian Bobby Moynihan brainstorm ideas for the movie's plot. (Nice sweatshirt, Bobby!) They involve a time machine and a cameo by President Obama:
Stay tuned for ALF-themed updates. Gethard promises a "high-budget audition video" is coming soon.
