Whoa, Dude: 'Lebowski' bathrobe goes up for auction
Posted February 14, 2013
Want to be the envy of your friends? The Dude's robe from The Big Lebowski is up for auction.
The item is part of a massive sale of Hollywood props that takes place March 2-3 in El Segundo, Calif. Online bidding has already started, so feel free to give it your best shot.
If you're more of a Walter fan, the pants John Goodman wears in Lebowski are on sale, too. And the awesomeness doesn't stop there: The sale, organized by Premiere Props, also includes stuff from The Matrix, the Indiana Jones movies, Django Unchained, the upcoming Superman flick Man of Steel and more. (You can pretty much name a movie, and it's represented.)
Go here to view the catalog for "Hollywood Auction Extravaganza IX." If I had the cash, I'd probably bid on one of the following:
- One of Harrison Ford's Ritz cracker paintings from Regarding Henry;
- John Candy's costume from Spaceballs;
- Worf's prosthetic nose from Star Trek: The Next Generation;
- Ron Perlman's face prosthetic from Hellboy.
One of the biggest-ticket items has to be one of Michael Jackson's crystal gloves. Right now the minimum bid is $1,000, but it's expected to go for $50,000 or more.
For more movie props, I suggest you head to www.premiereprops.com, where hundreds of cool items are currently on sale (not auction, so it's easier to buy). The current batch includes stuff from recent movies like Warm Bodies, Silver Linings Playbook and The Perks of Being a Wallflower.
