Inside look: Columbus Oktoberfest
Germany is a country that knows how to have a good time. They have a foolproof recipe for success that's worked for decades: beer + sausage = happiness.
Every year, we get a first-hand look at just how successful that recipe is during the annual Columbus Oktoberfest. This year, for the first time, the event took place at the Ohio Expo Center at the State Fairgrounds. The new venue seemed to be a hit, as everyone we talked to enjoyed the facilities. You had your choice of partying in the Warsteiner Bier Hall, the Schmidt Prost Hall or the Cabaret Bier Garden.
The venues came complete with live music, German dancers and cream puffs—three things that are pretty hard to turn down.
The opening night (Sept. 25) also featured a Brat-and-Bier Run, where participants received complimentary beer and sausage courtesy of Schmidt's Sausage Haus. That's our kind of race.
We were there on both opening and closing night to capture some of the action, in case you couldn't make it out this year. Click through the photos to see who got flashed, and then check out some of our other recent galleries, covering a wide range of events from the TerrorFest Haunted House to the Kings of Leon concert to the grand opening of The Social Room.
