The arrival of Memorial Day means summer is upon us. Outdoor pools everywhere have opened their gates, grills are in full grilling mode, and ice cream stores across town are finally starting to make some money again.

But nowhere is the start of summer so meaningful as on Put-in-Bay. The cluster of islands just north of Sandusky comes alive for a three months each year, and Memorial Day is the official kick-off party.

We were there this weekend, taking in all the excitement at places like The Beer Barrel, The Put-in-Bay Brewing Company, Heineman's Winery and more.
