Crew pick up first win of the year
It took until the eighth game of the year, but the defending MLS Cup champion Columbus Crew finally won their first game of the 2009 season, beating the Kansas City Wizards 3-2 at Crew Stadium on May 9 to move to 1-2-5 on the season.
Eddie Gaven's goal in the 78th minute proved to be the game-winner, Emmanuel Ekpo and Guillermo Barros Schelotto also scored for the Crew, and Frankie Hejduk and Robbie Rogers had assists.
