Where do the works come from?
The idea for "Soul!" came from the fact that the Afro-Am Museum did an exhibit called "The Legacy Continues" quite a few years ago and it was very successful. It featured a lot of these works but these works have not been seen in Columbus or outside of Wilberforce [since] the organization's creation and we thought, what a wonderful thing to put an exhibition a lot like "The Legacy Continues" together and bring it to the Ohio Historical Center. As we got into the work, we decided that the works are so incredible that we wanted to make it bigger. We have the space here so it grew from there. We changed the name. One of those delightful things that has happened is that this has turned into something much bigger than the original exhibition. We're actually calling it the "Soul! Project" now because it's gotten legs in a lot of different ways.
