The sun is shining and you've got a weekend to kill. What to do? Just head north. With the king of amusement parks, a rowdy starlit booze cruise to Kelleys Island and the party-round-the-clock atmosphere of Put-in-Bay, Sandusky and the Lake Erie Islands never, ever disappoint.

Try to keep from losing your lunch on Maverick, Cedar Point's record-breaking 17th coaster. Try to keep breakfast down after a late night of beer buckets at the Round House during Christmas in July. Try not to fall over on the Goodtime I as it cuts through the waves en route to Kelleys. And keep in mind that two out of three ain't bad.

If you've never been, don't worry ... we've compiled a list below of the can't-miss, must-visit spots on the western shores this summer.

Put-in-Bay is one my favorite summer roadtrips. I heard there is a new pool bar opening on the main strip this year.
