Credibility rating: 3
In an age of global warming awareness, it’s automatically difficult to buy into a premise that the sun will be dying out by 2057 and require a team of scientists to risk their lives re-igniting it. To be fair, scientists have discussed the possibility of the sun reaching a critical “red giant” phase where it could annihilate human life on Earth, but it’s generally believed this could happen in 4 to 5 billion years rather than in a half-century’s time from now. The upside to implausibly compressing the timeframe: gorgeous space-travel imagery from Oscar-winning “Slumdog Millionaire” director Danny Boyle.
