Shonda Lewis hosts "Spotlght with Shonda" on Blah Talk Radio
When Shonda Lewis graduated from The Ohio State University with a degree in communications, the Columbus area native knew she’d eventually find a career in entertainment.
After spending years promoting real estate seminars and events as a guest on local radio, Lewis decided to create her own station via the Internet. The result is Blah Talk Radio (www.BlahTalkRadio.com), which has been running since November 2008. Now Lewis is upping the ante by offering live programming mixed in with pre-recorded material 24/7.

Metromix talked to Lewis about her new venture and why she believes Blah Talk Radio is the future of Columbus radio.
So, in a nutshell, what exactly is Blah Talk Radio?
It’s an Internet radio station and it’s just in regards to educating and motivating and getting the word out to women and people into regards to fitness and other topics. My show is “The Spotlight.” By trade I’m a realtor, so that’s what my show pertains to.
What other types of programming does Blah Talk Radio offer?
We have a political show and, of course, politics are really hot right now. That show is called “Acehole Politics.” And we have “The Hot Air Show,” and it’s two African-American males giving you two different perspectives of life and politics and women and everything that’s going on. We also have “Pimp Fitness” with Mike Davies, and he’s a renowned trainer who owns the Fitness Factory. He’s talking about getting in shape.
Considering you’ve been offering pre-recorded material since late last year, what’s the reaction been and who is your target demographic?
People say they really like it and continue to listen. So far at one point we got up to 40,000 listeners in four months. They just like the fact that it’s talk about different subjects that traditional radio stations can’t (discuss). And what we’d like to improve is to be able to reach more people. It’s not all aimed to Columbus. It’s national. We’re looking to get national attention. Our target demo is anybody that’s doing social media or networking, that’s already currently on Facebook, Twitter and those kinds of sites. That’s our target market. So this will be talk radio for people to hear stories and to hear our reactions and to talk about movies or whatever the host decides to talk about.
So why offer live programming?
Because when you go live you have more people listening. That’s more people listening and calling in and more interaction.
Finally, why should people consider giving Blah Talk Radio the time of day?
They should listen to it for entertainment and for education. It just depends on what show. If they want fitness, they can listen to “Pimp Fitness.” If they listen to me, it’s in regards to buying a home or losing weight or motivation. If they got to “Acehole Politics,” it can be about politics. It just depends on what show they’re listening to. ... It’s unique because it just offers different people who are experienced in their fields. So it’s just its own kind of being and a little different from other radio stations.
