Gogol Bordello thrills crowd at Newport
A Gogol Bordello concert is a famously high-energy affair that’s not to be missed. The band’s sound is a genre-skipping grab bag, taking cues from traditional Gypsy music, punk rock, dub, metal and everything in between.
Holding this musical circus together is singer Eugene Hutz, who was born in the Ukraine but fled the country with his family after the Chernobyl accident in 1986. He spent the next seven years moving among refugee camps in Eastern Europe, picking up an array of cultural influences along the way.
The band was in town Oct. 27 for a show at Newport Music Hall. We were there to catch all the action, in case you couldn't make it. Take a look at all the photos from the show, then check out some of our other concert galleries, featuring acts like Taking Back Sunday, the Stone Temple Pilots and the Kings of Leon.
