Plain White T's at Newport
Two years ago, it seemed impossible to escape the ever-present song “Hey There Delilah.” Especially for Tom Higgenson, lead singer of Plain White T’s, the Chicago-based band behind the massive hit.
When “Delilah” was blowing up over the summer of 2007, Higgenson says he often sang the song at three consecutive radio station gigs, an acoustic session and a full band concert … then did it all over again the next day in a new city. (Higgenson claims “Delilah” never gets on his nerves.)
But the T’s are already putting the love-it-or-loathe-it, Grammy-nominated hit behind them with their latest effort, “Big Bad World.” The tough-to-resist album is a more poppy, upbeat record than “Every Second Counts” despite “World” being, as Higgenson says, a personal album on which he constantly blame himself for all his mistakes.
Higgenson and the rest of his band mates came to Columbus on Friday, June 12, for a show at Newport Music Hall. Take a look at all of our photos from the show, and then check out Metromix's exclusive interview with the singer for the Plain White T's.
