The Dirty Projectors at the Wexner Center
Brooklyn-based buzz-band-of-the-moment Dirty Projectors, led by front man Dave Longstreth, is coming off a major success at SXSW, a stellar collaboration with David Byrne for the "Dark Was the Night" compilation, a Soho gig with Bjork and a much-anticipated new album, "Bitte Orca," released June 9 on Domino.
But to the band's Central Ohio fans, perhaps the most important thing to note is that Dirty Projectors is coming off a show at the Wexner Center on June 21, as part of the "Next at Wex" series.
After a 40-minute set by opening act The Skeletons—a group that's even more experimental than Dirty Projectors, which is hard to accomplish—the headliners took the stage. The six-piece group, complete with three female vocalists to complement Longstreth's lead vocals, created a wall of sound in the tiny room tucked inside the Wex.
Camera Obscura is up next in the "Next at Wex" series, playing a show June 29.
