Flaming Lips take over the LC Pavilion
The Flaming Lips know how to throw a party. Complete with confetti, gigantic balloons, a space bubble and people on stage dressed as what appeared to be either bunnies or sheep (we'll call them "beeps"), their live show is one of the most entertaining you'll ever see.
Their fans love adding to the craziness. During the Lips' show Sept. 18 at the LC Pavilion, we saw fans dressed as penguins, nuns, monks, aliens and everything else you can imagine. We even saw one woman dressed as a certain female body part ... and we'll leave it at that.
Lead singer Wayne Coyne got into his space bubble early and ventured out into the crowd, then he spent the rest of the show firing off his confetti cannon and belting out classic songs like "She Don't Use Jelly," "Do You Realize" and "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots."
Click through the photos to get a closer look at all the madness, including shots of the band, the bubble, the fans and opening act Stardeath and White Dwarfs, featuring Wayne's nephew, Dennis, on lead vocals.
After you're done with these photos, check out some of our other concert galleries from the summer, featuring acts like the Killers, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Incubus and all the bands at CD101 Summerfest.
