Yeah Yeah Yeahs at LC Pavilion
It was originally set to take place at Newport Music Hall, but after selling out in a matter of days, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs show May 28 was moved to the outdoor amphitheater at the LC Pavilion. And with a packed crowd in attendance, it was easy to see why the move was made.
Lead singer Karen O., who we deemed as one of the hottest women in rock, is simply too big for venues like Newport. In true rock-star style, the lead singer of the popular band came out in a kimono Thursday before removing it to reveal an all-leather outfit that helped her stand out for the duration of the show.
Playing all its hits—including a closing stretch that featured "Maps" and "Zero," and "Heads Will Roll" as the first song of the encore—the band captivated the audience from the opening note.
There was a little rain before the opener, and then about 60 seconds of hard rain just before the Yeah Yeah Yeahs went on, but once the concert kicked into high gear, the weather took a backseat to the wailing and guitar riffs.
Grand Ole Party, another band featuring a female lead singer, was the opener. Check out all our photos of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Grand Ole Party. Then take a look at some of our other recent concert galleries, including Third Eye Blind, The Killers, Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, Girl Talk, Shinedown and Rock on the Range.
And if you still need more to fulfill your Karen O. fix, check out our Yeah Yeah Yeahs photos from the band's secret show in New York City not long ago.
