The Black Keys at Skully's
The guy in the front row summed it up best midway through the set when he screamed, "You guys melt my goddamn face."
The Black Keys is only a two-person band, but Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney are no ordinary people. Singer-guitarist Auerbach is one of the most talented musicians out there right now, and Carney can play a mean set of drums. Together they put out more sound than most five-piece acts.
That certainly was the case April 27, when the Keys played in front of a jam-packed house during an invite-only show at Skully's. And we really do mean jam-packed—fans were layered on top of each other from the stage to the exit to see this once-in-a-lifetime show.
The blues-rock duo has admitted they hold a special place in their hearts for Ohio, since they hail from Akron (the same hometown as Colonel Sanders, as Auerbach pointed out to us during our interview with him).
If you weren't able to score tickets to the show, you can still get a first-hand look at everything that went down by checking out our photos. We caught the band in action, and we also got quite a few crowd shots. If you did attend the concert, let us know what you thought of it by leaving a comment below.
