The Parlor Mob will be in Columbus on Saturday
There’s a lot of rock out there right now. There’s glam rock, indie rock, progressive rock, garage rock, funk rock, rockabilly …
The list goes on forever.
Whatever happened to plain rock? Simple, straightforward rock ’n’ roll?
If you think it’s gone away, you haven’t listened to The Parlor Mob yet. This up-and-coming band from New Jersey has yet to become a household name, but the five-piece group is creating a buzz across the music industry while touring for their debut album “And You Were a Crow,” which features the single “Hard Times” (currently on CD101’s playlist).
We took in a Parlor Mob show last year in Cleveland, and they blew us away with their energetic live set.
If you don't believe us, read this quote from a New York Times story about the band: "When you're not even halfway through your 20s, jump-starting a back-to-basics rock revolution seems a tall order. Judging by the rock ‘n' roll charisma radiated by the band members at their live shows—long hair tossing, instrument abusing, generally reckless affairs—[The Parlor Mob] are up to the task."
Now you have a chance to see the band—along with four others—for only $5 Saturday at the LC Pavilion as part of CD101 Day. Trust us, even if you just go to see The Parlor Mob, you’ll be getting your money’s worth.
We had a chance to talk with lead singer Mark Melicia before the band heads to town for the big show.
