Easter Sunday surprise
April 12, 2009
With a summer of major U.S. festivals and European tours ahead of them (insert “Maps” joke here), New York cool kids Yeah Yeah Yeahs threw a secret Easter show to celebrate the release of their latest LP, “It’s Blitz!” Playing to a select group of hometown friends, family and lucky fans at Santos Party House in Manhattan, the trio (aided by former Tortoise/Stereolab/Slint guitarist David Pajo) ran through a delectable mix of old favorites—including “Art Star,” and, yes, “Maps”—and new hits like “Zero.” So, let’s see: a hot band, a secret show and a tiny guest list…yep, Metromix was there.

I was so bummed to miss this show. Sounds like it was much better than their awkward and thin performance on SNL this weekend.
