A burger beacon in downtown’s German Village, The Thurman Cafe is hands-down the best burger in town. The Food Network even has come through to partake of the phenomenon that is The Thurman Burger. The family-owned and run restaurant prides itself on piling their three-quarter pounders to order — but if you can’t decide, don’t worry. They have an extensive list of burger types, including The Macedonian Burger, featuring Texas toast and sweet red peppers, and the Thurmandelphia Steak Sub, their take on the Philly Cheese Steak. Though their burgers are the moneymaker, they have a full menu and bar, including their own version of the Coney Island and monthly Blue Plate Specials.
