Dirty Frank's Hot Dog Palace now open

For the past couple of months, the best place in town to grab a hot dog has been the beautiful new Huntington Park on a game day. There's suddenly some moe competition.

Dirty Frank's Hot Dog Palace officially opened its doors for business on July 1. You can head down to the new spot, located at 248 4th Street in Columbus, to get a taste of one of those Chicago or Ohioana dogs the restaurant specializes in, or one of the more unique options.

Dirty Frank's will be open from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. this week, as the staff gets used to "dog-slinging," as it says on the eatery's Twitter account.

Check back to Metromix.com later this week for a full review of the place, including pictures of some of the different dogs. But until then, you'll have to make do just reading about some of the options. (And on that note, please keep in mind that the hot dog pictured here is not a Dirty Frank's dog. We won't have pictures of those until after the place has opened. What's pictured is just a random hot dog, in case you've forgotten what a hot dog looks like).

The Chicago dog comes with fresh tomatoes, diced onions, peppers, pickle relish, yellow mustard and a dash of celery salt. The Ohioana is topped with a spicy corn relish (a mixture sweet corn, pickle relish and jalapeños). We're interested in the Whoah Nellie, which comes topped with pulled beef brisket and a little BBQ sauce. You can check out the full Dirty Frank's menu online.
