Skillet, a brand new diner on Whittier Avenue near German Village and downtown, serves up farm-fresh food with city-slicker speed and sentiment. Their menu finds a way to be both rustic and urban is. They proudly claim to offer "ingredient-driven comfort food with an edge."
While this neighborhood eatery has only been open for since the fall of 2009, they are already expanding their service beyond breakfast and lunch, now catering to the dinner rush.
Their menu changes on a weekly basis to incorporate seasonal ingredients in their dishes, some of which are surprisingly complex (shredded apple and farmer's cheese pancakes with sweet rum raisin syrup).
