Union Bar + Food, formerly Union Station, used to be a fairly typical gay bar before moving deeper into the Short North, donning new digs and revamping its style. Taking its cue from the Los Angeles club scene, the bar completely diversified, becoming the hoppin’ spot for anyone, regardless of sexual preference. Union now serves up a classy American menu -— highlights include teriyaki chicken and shrimp alfredo. The interior, cut down the middle with two bars, sports a “bar side” and “dining side,” catering to both ends of the social scene. But the bar’s main feature is the patio, and —- if the weather allows —- that's a great place to chow down on Union's renowned Sunday brunch, which includes someone who cooks made-to-order omelets right before your eyes.
