Louie's Grill is an independent, family-owned restaurant famous for its friendly, welcoming service and a tasty fusion menu combining the best of Tex Mex, Cuban, Mexican, Cajun and a mixture of other favorite cuisines from various cultures around the world.
Louie's serves a full breakfast, lunch and dinner menu in addition to highly praised margaritas and a full bar, so if you go there, it's likely you're in for a fabulous meal in a relaxing environment.
Food: With so many fresh and flavorful choices (both unique and standard), it's impossible not to find something you'll love, and it's also very likely that you'll discover a new favorite dish if you try some of Louie's house specials. There really is something for everyone here, whether you wish to be daring and sample something spicy, or whether you prefer a more Americanized dish.
The menu is a decent size, so it's difficult to highlight only a few entrees, but we'll recommend a few: jambalaya, machaca with eggs, huevos rancheros, fried plantains, Veracruz salad, California pan roasted vegetables, roasted chicken, fiesta burger and the carne asada burrito.
Make sure you save room for dessert, too! The flan is particularly enjoyable and probably the best we've found in Columbus so far.
Libations: Enjoy a full bar and a variety of drink specials along with your food; Louie's claims to offer the best margaritas in town. Domestic and import beers are available, as well as wine, cocktails, soft drinks, iced tea and coffee. Drink specials are available on a daily basis.
Décor: With a large, bright dining room and a sleek bar reminiscent of a retro diner, Louie's atmosphere is as charming as the service is welcoming. The walls are nicely painted and decorated with an eclectic mixture of pop culture icons and tropical art, while roomy booths and tables offer plenty of comfortable seating. The overall vibe is casual, fun and relaxed.
Crowd: The dining area is large enough to comfortably seat diners on even the busiest nights, and the bar area offers extra room if there's a short wait for your table. Reservations are accepted, but we think you'll be fine without them.
Service: Family-owned restaurants often seem more appreciative than commercial chains, and Louie's was nothing less than completely welcoming. Our server was friendly, warm and efficient. We enjoyed our meal here, felt comfortable taking our time eating, and loved the vacation-like ambiance.
Bottom line: Support this friendly family business and enjoy an excellent meal that will add some spice to your routine while still being easy on your wallet.
