Sushi Ting specializes in fresh seafood, authentic Japanese dishes and -you guessed it- fantastic sushi. Lunch and dinner entrees are served in clever, generously sized "box" trays with separate compartments for all of your favorite foods. This is one of fairest priced sushi bars we've found, but without sacrificing any of the quality you'd get at a more expensive restaurant. The clean, white tables and minimal but well-chosen décor lend an upscale, polished vibe while adding to the calm and zen-like peacefulness of the atmosphere.
Food: Customers rave about the sushi here, and we certainly agree that it is right up there with the best of the best. You'll also find all of your favorite Japanese dishes on the menu, and portion sizes are generous for the price. There are some wonderful sushi combination platters that will delight even the pickiest connoisseur, yet there are plenty of options for the sushi "newbie" as well. Some favorite dishes include the salmon teriyaki dinner box, ton katsu and shrimp tempura, sashimi sampler, carpaccio crunch, miso noodles and spicy crab salad. Definitely try the Hawaiian roll, New York roll, "in and out" roll and the spider roll (but we've heard great things about all of the sushi rolls!). Sample unusual ice cream flavors like green tea, plum wine, ginger or red bean for dessert.
Libations: The beverage list is short but sweet, including green tea, lemonade, Coke products, standard domestic beers, a short list of import beers and hot or cold sake.
Décor: Elegant, modern and spa-like, the dining room offers plenty of seating, decorative folding screens for privacy, clean, crisp white tables and low, relaxing lighting. The décor is minimal, but very tasteful and chic. It's a welcome diversion from gaudy and overly decorated establishments. This restaurant provides a perfect example of "quality over quantity". A single widescreen TV is mounted above the sushi bar and can be viewed from most tables in the room.
Crowd: The dining room is fairly large, but we would recommend reservations during dinner hours. A large crowd of all ages occupies the restaurant during lunchtime, which is a sure sign that it's one of the better sushi bars in the area. Carryout is also available, and often with a special 15% discount if you mention it.
Service: Servers were very polite, attentive and professional. Our drinks were refilled often, and we didn't have to wait long for our meal. We enjoyed the atmosphere immensely.
Bottom line: Delicious and fresh meals, great prices, and a quiet, classy atmosphere make this sushi bar one of our new favorite places to eat in Columbus. We strongly encourage you to take all your friends to Sushi Ting!
