With a history dating back to the late 1800s, The Southern Theatre is hands down the oldest theater in Columbus and one of the longest running theater venues in Ohio. The 933-seat theater received a massive renovation from the Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (CAPA) in 1998, two years after the company took it over. The theater is home to such local institutions as the Columbus Jazz Orchestra, Chamber Music Columbus and ProMusica Chamber Orchestra.
