On its Web site, Rosendale’s describes itself as “modern American dining with a sophisticated atmosphere.” That’s pretty accurate. It's good they're not lying to us. The upscale restaurant, located atop the high-class Winders Building in the Short North Arts District, prides itself on presentation. The menu features a smoked maple syrup-glazed pork loin, artichoke ravioli and a “V.L.T.,” substituting veal for the usual bacon; also a never-ending wine list and a full “Piedmont Tasting Menu” round out the restaurant’s offerings. And keeping with its classy tradition, the restaurant encourages “casual chic” attire and a strict “no hats” dress code. Executive Chef Richard Rosendale also spreads his wealth of talent, sometimes leading cooking demonstrations, and even travels for pricey private lessons for those really wanting to hone their cooking skills.
